1. Workshop for Advances in Swarm Robotics and Applications
Organzied by Prof. Ying Tan, Peking University, China
Swarm robotics is a new approach to the coordination of multi robot systems which consist of a number of simple physical robots. It is supposed that a desired collective behavior emerges from the interaction between the robots and the interaction of robots with the environment. This approach emerged in the field of artificial swarm intelligence as well as the biological study of insects, ants and other fields in the nature, where a swarm behavior occurs. The aim of researches of swarm robotics is to study the design of large amount of relatively simple robots, their physical bodies and their controlling behaviors.
Currently, we are in the process of editing Handbook of Research on Design, Control, and Modeling of Swarm Robotics to be published by IGI Global (www.igi-global.com) scheduled for release at the end of 2015, and we have received about 30 chapters so far. In order to enhance the influence of the book, strengthen the communication and cooperation between researchers in swarm robotics and attract more attention from the related researchers, we sincerely invite you to participate in the workshop for swarm robotics in ICSI 2015, which includes the following topics:
- Aggregation, pattern formation
- Path planning, coordinated motion and formation control
- Searching, target or chemical plume tracking, area coverage
- Control model, strategies or algorithms
- Human-Swarm Interaction
In this workshop, you can present your research work, communicate with other scholars, obtain the information about the current status of the study and look into the future of swarm robotics. Besides, you can listen to the lectures of the ICSI 2016, which may give you some inspiration for your own study.
